God’s Sovereign Choice

God’s Sovereign Choice

Romans 9: 16-24

“It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”[a] 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden........”

As human as we are, we are very much aware of things concerning our lives no one can decide for us or tell us what to do. We believe there are certain things concerning our lives other  people definitely have to say something about but we alone have the power to decide. Just as we as individuals have the power to make choices that we know are good for us, that is the same way God,  our Father has the power over everything in the earth to make for Himself choices He knows are good for it. From the very big things to the very little things. From living things to nonliving things.

For instance, as human as you are, you buy a cloth to sew a dress for yourself. Everything about the dress you have purposed to sew is your heart’s desire. In your mind, you have in detail how you’ve desired in your heart you want the dress to look on you. From the color of the cloth, the type of material( whether cotton, silk, satin, shevon, sheda, polished cotton) , the kind of details the material should have(pattern of flowers, zig-zag), the style you want to sew; from head to toe, the length of it, how you want the waist to be 23inches meanwhile you’re actual waist is 4 times 23inches😂.

Like I mean, the seamstress dare not tell you what color of cloth to buy. She dare not have a say in the kind of style you want to sew. Haha...ei and she dare not decide for you the length of your dress.Like eii maame, who are you to tell me what length I should sew, are you the one wearing the dress??😂😂 All she has to do is make herself available to work for you. You give her the material, she takes the measurements of your choice(shoulder length, arm length),  and starts embarking on what you’ve commanded her to do. Yes, this is how powerful the will and the choice of man is valued and respected.  Nobody has the right to tell you what. Well, others will have something to say but you know at the end, you have the final say.

That is the will power and choice of man that he believes no one should disrespect or spit on. Yes, and when we see someone spitting on our choices or will power, we say, “the audacity, just look at that. Who does she think she is to tell me what to do?” Eiii😂😂, wow, as human as we are mpo nie. How much more God??

Just like how we decide what to with the material we buy for the seamstress to sew, that is how God also decides for what He created  what to do with it; US!

Verse 18

“ Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.”

(In other words, He has the power to do with us  and to us what He wants and how He wants)

Yes, just like how the seamstress dare not make an opinion or question your decision or anything of that sort. That is exactly and even far more than how you and I DARE not question His decisions for our lives. We find(buy) the material, give it to the seamstress to make a dress of our choice, of our heart's desire. God, our Father in heaven, the divine one, the supreme being, the authority, the majesty, the royalty, the matchless one, uh huh (mention them😂, I want to set the platform right so that you can ask yourself if you have the audacity to question Him) Haha...that was just by the way. So God finds clay(what we are made of). He is all capable that He didn’t have to give the clay to another potter to mold. No, He himself is the potter. He doesn’t have to lay down or list down all that He wants the outcome of what He is molding to be. It’s all in His head.

He owns the clay(US) and is the potter, who are we to tell him what to make of us.

He is making us, His special ones, His chosen ones, for special purposes. What are those purposes? For us to establish His kingdom here on earth in our special unique ways, using the diverse innate gifts and talents He purposely placed inside of us to proclaim His name all over the earth and to the ends of the world.

Verse 17

” For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

(Substitute your name with Pharoah’s)

Child, God is intentional about you. I mean, He has always been intentional about you.

What He is making of us is for a good purpose but with His will and choices; not ours. Just like we will sew for it to fit us, that is how He will make us fit into what He has purposed us to be, what He has called us to be. And of course the plans of God for us are not of evil but plans to prosper us and not to harm us. Jeremiah 29:11

His plans for us are that are

Eyes have not seen nor ears heard.

This morning, know that God(potter) has a plan for you, and whichever level or state you’re reached in the making right now is all part of the process of the making. You are not yet made, you are in the making. “Making '', it is a present continuous tense, a process, so you will go through it; thick and thin, pruning and carving. Rejoice child! because you are in the hands of a divine potter, one that wants the best for you than anyone else , your Father in heaven. I know, I know you also have plans, but you see anytime you try executing it, it backfires. Let’s not rain questions on Him when things don’t go our way.

Verse 19-20

One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?” 20 But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use? ”

Don’t force your plan on Him child, it won’t work. If you try forcing it on Him, it will be your word against His. And you know every argument you have with God, it always turns out a win on His side. He will do anything for His will to be done. If you don’t succumb and commit to His plan, He is ready to disappoint yours .

Verses 10-11

“ Not only that, but Rebekah’s children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac. Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand: “

Just  allow for His will to be made prevalent in your life and expect a glorious outcome. The outcome will be so glorious that you will see that you fit so perfectly in His will and feel so fulfilled that if in the next world, your plan turns out to be an option, you wouldn’t want to choose. After all we are His children and all He wants to do is to glorify Himself in us. So child, let go and let God be glorified.

His choice is Sovereign. From today onwards, let your whole life be, Lord, Your will be done; not mine.

                                                                                                                               #erica_madeit❤️
