You Have Exhausted Your Choices
Listen; God Testifies Of One.
Acts 13:16-22
Standing up, Paul motioned with his hand and said: “Fellow Israelites and you Gentiles who worship God, listen to me! The God of the people of Israel chose our ancestors; he made the people prosper during their stay in Egypt; with mighty power he led them out of that country; for about forty years he endured their conduct[a] in the wilderness; and he overthrew seven nations in Canaan, giving their land to his people as their inheritance. All this took about 450 years. After this, God gave them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet. Then the people asked for a king, and he gave them Saul son of Kish, of the tribe of Benjamin, who ruled forty years. After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’
Many of us find ourselves here just like the isrealites. We’ve gone back and forth with our lives. Many are the difficulties and trauma we went through but God in His own mercies and might, delivered us and saved us. Just like the Isrealites, he saved us from from the hands of the enemy (Pharaoh) and brought us out of the land of Egypt and brought us to a land flowing with milk and honey; our promise land. He brought us to a place of peace and joy.
God expects us to know better and do well but as human as we are, we go off track again with our way of life contradicting law. But He is a merciful and patient God that even is all we do, He still is tolerant with us; answers our prayers and grants to us our requests. As all this is going on, He endured it all. God is still waiting on us, in hopes that we will do what is just and follow His law.
Verse 18-20
18 For about forty years he endured their conduct[a] in the wilderness; 19 and he overthrew seven nations in Canaan, giving their land to his people as their inheritance. 20 All this took about 450 years
He corrects us and gives us the grace period to make requests and choices in every step of the way but in the long run, it turns out that the choices we make don’t serve us well and we always find ourselves running back to Him.
Verse 20-21
After this, God gave them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet. 21 Then the people asked for a king, and he gave them Saul son of Kish, of the tribe of Benjamin, who ruled forty years.
This morning, you’ve exhausted your choices. Your grace period is over. He’s no more going to endure our contradictions. Let Him take over.Let him make the choices. Do yourself the honor of letting him make the choices concerning your love relationship, let him make the the choices concerning your business, let him make the choices concerning your life. He knows you so he knows what’s best for you and what will work for you.
Verse 22
After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’
Have confidence in this one choice he wants to make for you. The choice he is making is one that he has at heart and is confident about him. Let Him make the choices while you wait and trust.
